Girls on the Run
Alton Central School is proud to participate in Girls on the Run, a physical activity-based positive youth development (PA-PYD) program designed to enhance girls’ social, emotional and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences. The program’s intentional curriculum places an emphasis on developing competence, confidence, connection, character, caring and contribution in young girls through lessons that incorporate running and other physical activities. The life skills curriculum is delivered by caring and competent coaches, our very own ACS Teachers and staff, who are trained to teach lessons as intended.
The 8-week program is for girls in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades of all fitness abilities, and is generally conducted two afternoons per week in the Spring. Watch for registration information released in February.
